Five lawmakers, allegedly loyal to Minister Nyesom Wike and President Goodluck Jonathan, impeached Speaker Hon. Otelemaba Amachree. Hon. Martins Amaehwule (Obio/Akpor 1) moved the impeachment motion, while Hon. Evans Bipi (Ogu/Bolo) was elected as the factional Speaker. In a violent confrontation, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, then Majority Leader, attacked Hon. Michael Chinda with the Mace, leaving him severely injured.

Fast forward to 2024: The political landscape has shifted

Martin Amaewhule, Evans Bipi, and Michael Chinda, once allies, are now in different camps. Chidi Lloyd, who attacked Michael Chinda, is now in the same pro-Wike camp as Michael Chinda and Martin Amaewhule. Evans Bipi, the former factional Speaker, is no longer in the Wike camp, he has pitched tent with the Fubara camp and was appointed Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogu/Bolo LGA.

In politics, allegiances are fleeting and interests shift like sand. There are no eternal friends or enemies, only perpetual interests.
