A major victory for the millions of birds migrating over Lebanon! 🐦
This huge Barja trapping site is GONE. Every net, every piece of equipment confiscated.
We’re submitting a case file against the landowner & continuing spot checks all season.
Does rewilding help or hinder the British countryside? 🌱🌾
Conservationist @TrooperSnooks chats with @LeeAlanHall about the challenges of rewilding and why careful country management is needed to repair past mistakes.
@LandEthics@elonmusk You and @markwilderness are the only reasons I really bother with twitter anymore - like you said, it's become a horrible place to spend any time. I'm going to swap to Bluesky. Tell Mark to as well!
"Review of gray wolf mortality 🐺across its range. Intentional killing by humans is by far the leading cause of mortality (60% ± 25%), with similar percentages of wolves killed legally (29% ± 36%) and illegally (26% ± 33%)"
@LandEthics Ugh. That article made me feel a bit nauseous. 'Projects in national parks and river catchments are finding new income streams in carbon credits, biodiversity offsets and “nutrient neutrality” schemes' 🤮
Help keep Wilderness wild!
Stop Congress from killing federal Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves across the entire Lower 48 states!

Today marks the Wilderness Act’s 61st anniversary.
This essay was written by Wilderness Watch’s Katie Bilodeau on last year’s 60th anniversary and the message remains as important as ever.

@AlBuHarg@JrWitts@MoorlandAssoc No acknowledgement from the vested interests that keeping land in this state of arrested development might not be the best idea anymore. Time for forward thinking - it's not the Victorian era anymore.
@LandEthics@FieldsportsJrnl That perfectly illustrates the blinkered arrogance of these people. They behave and say thing which incline you to believe that they've never visited anywhere else on earth.
@CABS_REPORTS@YpenGr I've not seen or heard a single turtle dove here in Suffolk this year. The cruelty and downright selfishness of these hunters is mind boggling.
@markwilderness I hate they way they use 'invasion' to describe natural succession. It seems to me a deliberate use of language to justify their management practices. It works too - pretty much any 'conservation work party' is involved in 'scrub bashing'. Woodland is the enemy it seems.
Two weeks of choking on smoke from moorland fires ~9 miles away from me. The reason why is our national protected area system that fetishizes cultural landscapes & demands they are held in stasis against natural processes. Here is the habitat map of NYM SSSI - endless heathland🧵
