On this day in 1975, Jefferson Starship and “Jerry Garcia and Friends” took over Golden Gate Park for a free concert which drew in around 50,000 attendees. This would turn out to be the Grateful Dead’s last of only four performances in 1975. During their set they made sure to include some new tracks from their latest release ‘Blues For Allah,’ and some old favorites, leaving the crowd ready for more, that unfortunately wouldn’t come until June the following year.
