Last night, The King and The Queen Consort hosted a Reception to celebrate British East and South-East Asian communities at Buckingham Palace.

Managed to remove the stem with k wires and flexible osteotomes and slap hammer extractor.
Fortunately the locking mechanism of socket was intact making it less tedious revision

@jointdocShields Not seen many , but repaired it when obviously detached, also decorticate the GT at attachment point, no change is post op protocol, {I still do THR through my std posterior approach) .I haven’t see a quantifiable difference post op.

Can’t work out the design philosophy; shoulder and hip are radically different in static & dynamic stability and muscle recruitment

@ArthroToday @paul_lichstein @AlexisGaskin32 @eglieberman My only revision for my own THR was for IPD; revised painful hemi with acetabular erosion with DM by retaining the stem, used skirted head to get more offset ( regret it now).
Patient presented with non traumatic IPD.
No free lunches!
Trade one benifit for other risk!
