@Springhillbrier Sometimes students need more short term feedback. I have a younger student that I use rubber ducks with. If he participates, stays engaged, and has self control he can earn ducks, but I can also take them away. Now he has a physical representation of how he is doing.

@Springhillbrier Talking through emotions and reflecting their feelings back to them. Sometimes students do not truly understand how they are letting their emotions stack upon each other. A students can feel confused, then hurt, then angry very quickly, but they feel it as one emotion.

@Springhillbrier When I think of classroom management , I think of what can I do in my normal routine to reduce the chance for behavioral issues (transitions or downtime). If the management is going well, students will not have the opportunities to become disengaged.

@Springhillbrier One reduces the other, if you center you classroom around discipline you will not have the opportunity to implement much management, but if you have good management you will not have the opportunity to discipline (which you don’t want anyway)
