@Callidus67@Seth_3773 The call was over turned but his being in fair territory had zero to do with that. Would the runner being thrown out with the coach having a worse view have made it better?
He put himself in the best position regardless if it worked out or not.
@Kristinartz They're tools, but I find they're misused by teachers even more than students. We can get a grade without ever looking at a student's work. In math, knowing why a student got a problem wrong is 1,000 times more important than knowing they got it wrong.
@notheydontcare@CorfmanTim In your experience have you ever had a student come to school who was ill? A student who was having a bad day?
Now if you had stated you had 20 "A" students and they all bombed the state assessment, that would get my attention.
@respectedwizrd@notheydontcare@graymccheerwine Anyone trying to tell you to change something based on the outcome of one student, on one test very likely has never been a classroom teacher.
@notheydontcare "a student" isn't going make me question anything. If I have 160 students and 159 align well between my assessment and a state assessment but an "A" student bombs, there can be many factors.
Teaching Resource World Geo. for the 1st time next year + Resource Algebra 1. 90 minute block classes are tough for students in resource classes. I'll be using my love for global music. G.E.M. in China, writing a song based on a U.S. Movie, globalization

Never known my schedule for the next year before the previous one ended until this year. Although I am wanting my conference period replaced with an Algebra 1 class that will have a blind student. It's being considered I am told.
@FixingEducation The U.S. sees that the gap between us and Singapore is increasing. Instead of looking at what Singapore does differently, government dictates teacher just do more of what we do poorly. More isn't the answer.
Singapore knows less, deeper is better.
Next year should be fun

I'm going to have a student who went blind in 5th grade next year. Thinking of ways to help her with Algebra. This is extremely over priced. Profit over people at the extreme.
What an amazing day! These teachers reflected on all that they have learned at L@L and we had a Fed Ex Day! They took the day to build on new learning and put into action for the upcoming year. They “delivered” their plans at the end of the day. #fedexday#LatL2019#LoJoMath
We spend 1/6th the time teaching the area of a circle to 5th graders than Singapore does teaching there 5th graders. People making those decisions feel it's better to teach 6x as much.
A deeper understanding of less will always be better.
@flipflippen Sorry but as a teacher I didn't like this and I'm glad I'm at a district that doesn't subscribe. There are good concepts but the application to it made it very inauthentic. If the person to my right is told to give me an affirmation, how can that be genuine?
