Today, on Independence Day, let's remember how important individual rights are, and what a group of people risked and sacrificed in rejecting an oppressive government 246 years ago in the name of those rights.
Umm, @mozilla pre-enabling a new potentially privacy violating function of #Firefox is not "opt-in" for users if you're opting in for them. I had to disable this new stuff you snuck into the latest version. #sketchy
@Consumer_Cell No, a different phone is not needed. My phone on my Consumer Cellular account is 4G - I use 4G all the time on it. You are sending the email in the hopes that I did not know that.
So @Consumer_Cell is blanket emailing their customers, regardless of what device is on their account, with this "OMG UPGRADE OR ELSE" email, claiming that the current device will lose service. (1)
I called them on this and they acted like they had no idea my current phone (which is only a year old, and is a more capable device than literally anything CC even sells) was on my account... which is ridiculous. What have I been using minutes and data on? (4)
@Consumer_Cell Considering that CC markets mostly toward seniors, they are basically scaremongering mostly non-technical users who don't know any better, presumably just to sell more phones. Pretty shady marketing tactic in my opinion. (3)
