@mark_joubert I clicked on you because you are well spoken in another response. I do think there is a fear for the way some of Trump’s talk seems “authoritarian” AND I I think Trump won AND I believe in a peaceful transfer of power and support our institutions. It is not either/or.
Students who do not get enough sleep…
•Don’t remember nearly as much
•Have trouble focusing
•Make more errors
•More likely to be overweight & have a weaker immune system which increases absences
PARENTS, please take phones away during bedtimes.

@MrDanielBuck It is not all or nothing. Please don’t divide us at a time when we are already so divided. It is possible to value social and emotional learning AND to care about structure and discipline. It is not either/or BUT it can be both/and!
@MrDanielBuck I think it is lazy execution. You are exactly right……. Kids will be kids but the adults need to be the adults. Removing a kid from learning is not punitive it is a consequence to protect the learning environment. I am so sorry about this and I agree with you 💯
@Mr_JVD Clear is kind. Set expectations and do not hesitate to let the university know your concerns. I’ve had a good experience and one where there was no way I could hand over my students to this person. When I called the university, they “knew” and appreciated my honesty.
@AaronChalfin I teach high school at an excellent public school in a wealthy area - what I notice is the ability of some families to get help (college coaches, tutors, etc). I can only imagine that is exponentially the case at an elite private school. Is this what you mean by cultural capital?
@MeghanMcCain Love this!!! Double the fun and exponentially amount more work was my experience in the beginning!!! We have two girls 12 and 16 now. It’s wonderful!
