A child who reads twenty minutes a day encounters millions of words in a year.
That exposure builds vocabulary, background knowledge, and language patterns.
No worksheet can compete with that.
Reading widely is one of the most powerful learning engines we have.
Reading data analysed. Books checked. Pupils growing as writers.
And then a hug.
“I had a good day. I read The Gruffalo. Stickman next.”
Everything connects. Data. Teaching. Reading. Writing.
It is not about the systems. It is about the child. Their confidence. Their joy.

Teaching social-emotional learning skills to kids in chaotic classrooms is like teaching swimming techniques to someone who's drowning. Students can't regulate emotions they don't have the cognitive bandwidth to deal with.
One of the most powerful social-emotional interventions is ensuring students experience genuine achievement in challenging academic work. Students who feel incompetent will struggle emotionally regardless of how many mindfulness exercises they practice.
The kindness of people is unbelievable. It’s been an absolute pleasure mentoring the most wonderful trainee teacher over the past 2 terms. So dedicated, passionate and incredibly amazing! Can’t wait to see her successes as an ECT 🥰
