33,000 Hospitality businesses closed since the amazing @RachelReevesMP made her 1st budget. Thats 33,000 places that employed people and helped pay taxes. The industry needs a VAT cut now. There will be more businesses to employ and pay taxes
VAT REDUCTION FOR HOSPITALITY
Please share and comment to help support Hospitality
The message is clear and loud, the hospitality industry requires a Vat reduction to help navigate the huge increases in the sector.
"A reduction in VAT is the biggest thing that would save hospitality."
Thanks to @ChefTomKerridge for highlighting on @bbcquestiontime how the UK's VAT rate is an outlier compared to our competitors.
That's why we have been calling for a lower rate of VAT for hospitality.
@banks_chef@FifeCouncil Sadly it’s already in its way in Wales. They are building the IT to collect the money from accommodation providers (we have to collect the money and foot the bill for card processing for it too)
@Sacha_Lord Let’s hope that when they say hospitality they mean all of it this time. Our lovely local pub deserves help &so do we. Our 6 holiday cottages got battered with a 300% BR increase & introduce over 1000 guests a year to the pub- it’s an ecosystem &must be treated as such.
We’re facing into inevitable job losses & business closures across Welsh #hospitality
Hotels, pubs, cottages … they’re all going to suffer along with the many family businesses and trades who service them.
#TaxedOut
Scotland's self-caterers warn of 'widespread' closures as new threat emerges:
"When combined with the ongoing costs of STL licensing, the abolition of the FHL regime, planning constraints & rising operating costs, the cumulative impact is becoming existential.
"Many operators no longer see a clear route to remaining viable. The risk of widespread business closure is now material and immediate."

Thank you to Shadow Exchequer Secretary @jamesowild MP for raising the unfair business rates burden in the Commons today.
The average pub is expected to pay thousands of pounds more following the Budget, despite the support the support that was promised.
It's time for the Government to recognise the disproportionate tax bill facing pubs up and down the country, revisit the measures and deliver meaningful support for the sector.
Still confused about what the Budget means for Britain’s pubs?
Let us break it down for you. Our Tax and Trade Policy Manager, @morganschondelmeier, explains why the government’s so-called “golden era of hospitality” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and unpacks why pubs across the country will face much higher bills next year as a result of the government’s failure to deliver meaningful business rates reform.
It's time for the Government to recognise the disproportionate tax bill facing pubs up and down the country and revisit their policy package for Britain's beer and pub sector.
@LaraInCornwall Oh Lara, I know what you mean. It’s an awful rollercoaster & one moment you’re full of fight, the next full of tears. Take good care of yourself today
"The Gov't repeatedly said it was going to introduce permanently lower business rates, and businesses heard that and made decisions based on what they heard. Now their bills are going up."
Thank you to @libdemdaisy for highlighting the huge increase in rates facing the sector.
The grassroots movement has started with 87.3% voting for industrial action. Labour have pushed #Hospitality to the limit and there now no other option. They’re not listening, so we’re not serving. #TaxedOut#CutVat#NoLabourMPs
Join the movement. The only real cut is a #VatCut
Labour says they will train young people to work in pubs and restaurants…
Meanwhile 111,000 workers in the sector have lost their jobs this year and hundreds of pubs and restaurants have closed under Labour’s incompetent tax policies.
They really are THIS insane 🤡
In a debate on Extended Producer Responsibility, @DrNeilHudson emphasised the hospitality sector contributes £93 billion economically and is the third largest employer in the country.
The tax burden must be shifted. EPR is adding to the cost crisis facing hospitality.
