As an immigrant to Ireland myself, I would never presume to tell the Irish people that they are racist. I came here to build a career and build a life - and I have experienced enormous welcome, generosity and opportunity along the way.

That is why I find it deeply troubling when Ireland is reduced to a simplistic Marxist framework of “oppressor” and “oppressed,” as though every interaction can be explained through race and power. That ideology has increasingly found its way into our schools and public discourse, and we should assertively challenge it.

And the claim that the Irish people somehow possess “white privilege” while ignoring Ireland’s own long and often brutal history is historically illiterate. Surely with your PhD, you have some knowledge of Irish history?Irish history cannot simply be rewritten to fit fashionable ideological theories imported from elsewhere.

If you genuinely despise Ireland and the Irish people, perhaps the answer is not to lecture them about their supposed moral inferiority. Take your talents and credentials to make the country you came from a better place.

Ireland deserves better than contempt disguised as scholarship.
