Students got to learn a new art form during summer school- punch needling! It has been a very cool experience to teach them a new skill and see them grow! @BensenvilleD2
At first, Ss agreed theyd be motivated to work if they got candy…but by the end, Ss all agreed they were very intrinsically motivated to succeed at these challenges! No candy, just pride in themselves as a reward. Thanks @edgarfplacios for helping me with the idea
Learning English is a process and students must enjoy that process and feel comfortable and safe taking risks! Combining the SEL of working with dogs is a great way to work on English skills! @BensenvilleD2
Can’t physically be in the classroom teaching due to ACCESS testing, but I have been there virtually via pre-recorded videos! Can’t wait to get back to being in the classrooms next week!
One of my favorite qualities is kind, so I ❤️ that January is kindness month! Students wrote their name on a paper, & then went around and wrote kind things about every one of their classmates. Now every student has a list of all the great things their friends think about them ☺️
3rd bilingual read a story about a boy who wrote letters to his mailbox asking for gifts. So they all wrote letters to their own mailboxes asking for things they wanted! They’re being sent in the mail today! Let’s see if their mailboxes give them what they asked for 😁
Bsd2 supports Childhood Cancer Awareness Month! I may be in a different district now, but I’ll forever remember my 1st year as a teacher and the little warrior in my classroom. He taught me as many lessons as I taught him!
Wish I could be at the walk tonight. Thinking of you all
These students in a bilingual classroom read a story about 2 boys who went digging for something spectacular. Today they took ordinary rocks and painted them to turn them into something they think is spectacular! 💎✨ @BensenvilleD2
Thank you to these wonderful (and brave 😆) volunteers for taste testing the kids’ recipes. They came up with them on their own using the leftovers from the week! A skill we hope they can apply at home! @wajprincipal, @edgarfplacios, Karla Alvarez, Meaghan McGrath
In culinary camp, students learned how to budget and shop for groceries, make new recipes, cooking skills, and how to order in English at a restaurant! @BensenvilleD2
Culinary camp does more than just cook! In this STEM lesson, students made their own catapults, without even realizing they were working on their English! @BensenvilleD2
That’s a wrap on this year! I’m so proud of these students for all they have achieved and how much they have grown over the year. I know they will all excel in middle school. Good luck! @D13Eagles@D13Warriors
