Grace & Ellarae are leaders in @TrafalgarPS's Indigenous Student Club. Leading up to Sept 30 they prepped announcements to educate about #OrangeShirtDay. On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Grace wore her regalia & performed a jingle dress dance for the school community
In my observation over 30 years as a K-8 teacher in the system, the Ontario elementary teaching force is overwhelmingly white women. It’s impossible to not see it. In my last year I was in a school that had only one male teacher, and every teacher in the school was white except the Indigenous language teacher. The school was over 50% Indigenous kids.
I can tell you from personal experience from the perspective of a student AND a parent- REPRESENTATION MATTERS! (the hill I will always die on!) ✊🏽🧡
Had so much fun with the Grade 1’s at @PAlgonquin today, learning about Indigenous beadwork. Beads are powerful and help us tell our stories. Ss got to communicate important aspects of their identity through simple beadwork strings. Miigwetch @MrsLDutton for having me! 💕 @TVDSB
This is what a Canadian human rights crisis actually looks like! This community is 20 minutes outside of London, Ontario. Your children share classrooms with these children.
It’s time for people to stand up and speak out against this grave injustice. #ldnont
Im hearing all kinds of issues about not enough EAs. Children are getting on the wrong busses and a child in the middle of the street. They all have autism in common. This is a you issue @DrFullertonMPP and @Sflecce you’re failing these children at every level #50KIsNotOk fix it
When your school's SLP shares resources, you know it will support your programming!
These decodables look amazing and I cannot wait to try them with my students!! @tvdsbslp@JennGSLP@palgonquin@TVDSBKinder https://t.co/mnNAtPHmnX
@PAlgonquin we use Sentence Trees during whole class and small group instruction to practice our reading skills with decodable sentences. Ss gain confidence when reading these decodable sentences, turning an "I can't" into an "I can"! @tvdsbslp@SpecialEd_tvdsb@TVDSBLiteracy
The SLP department is honoured to have been recognized by the @LFPress. We are so proud of all of our amazing educators who are using the sound wall cards and supporting lessons to help develop their Ss' literacy skills. @fernandez_vesna@TVDSBLiteracy@TVDSB#soundwall#tvdsb
@GiwedinAnangKwe@EDUwithEmily Thank you for saying this!! It is so important to dig into the why, to take into account their circumstances. Love first!
@PAlgonquin@TVDSBmath Thanks so much @mrskmcleod for your March Madness Math Style!! The kiddos loved exploring with math tools and choosing their favourite! So much amazing discussion!
