My favorite way to introduce adding integers to my 6th graders! Students worked together to solve real life scenarios and come up with patterns and connections they noticed when adding integers! #middleschoolmath
And with division of fractions, one model is to think of the divisor as the size of the jump and the dividend as the finish line. How many jumps will it take to reach the finish line when starting from 0? For 2 1/2 ÷ 3/4, it takes 3 1/3 jumps.

Questions while reading Building Thinking Classrooms- is the lesson plan on pg 291 what every class looks like? Do we still work with small groups for targeted instruction? When do we include manipulatives? (loving the book so far btw!!) @pgliljedahl#thinkingclassroom
