FDD to the rescue. FDD-farmer door dash. Seriously this could be a thing. Group of people feeding a handful of farmers lunch, dinner and the occasional "I'm trying to beat the rain" late night snack. Tonight's snack is Dr Pepper and cantaloupe! @harsch_kevin@PrairieFireAgS1
It's a great week for agriculture! Proclaimed by Nebraska Gov Pillen as agriculture week, it was great to share "corny" stories to elementary students today. @NeCGA@NEFarmBureau
This struck me this morning. We don't normally think of the size difference, until you see them side by side. The little yard pony of yester year (that was a big tractor back then) next to the modern work horse. @harsch_kevin@PrairieFireAgS1#harvest2025#johndeere#caseih
Corn is an amazing plant. Even with the smallest amount of rain, it funnels it directly where it needs it...the roots! Those big fat leaves are more than just photosynthesis machines! @harsch_kevin@MrsNebraskaH20
The corn seedlingβs sharp coleoptile point is pushed to the surface by the elongating mesocotyl. Once the coleoptile senses light it ruptures and releases the first leaf. If the top soil is cloddy light can hit it and make it rupture early. Pre-plant Irr will help prevent this.
Well that was an experience to end @ComClassic . My cheap ass husband wouldn't rent an Uber, so we just scootered a mile+ in downtown Denver. Frozen and tired! Lol. Certainly a day to remember! @harsch_kevin@NeCGA@NationalCorn@PrairieFireAgS1
Be sure to join us in Central City Thursday at the UNL Extension Master Irrigator event! We would love to talk about precision irrigation with you. @harsch_kevin@PrairieFireAgS1@UNLExtension
