What a week! So disappointing that we won't see our Ss again in person this school year. I sure miss those kids! We'll all be stronger when it's over, but I have to admit this remote 'teaching' is pretty tough. I hope my teacher friends are getting some rest this weekend!
I don't know if this will help, but if any teacher or parent is looking for some puzzles to share with younger children while they are home, please use this link to get free access to my Yohaku Junior Book 3. Wishing you all good health. https://t.co/baGsndnQpb
@DJFTLL@ScottRRocco It's simple. I create them based on what we do each week & try to include some SEL topics. I send them via email/weekly newsletter. Ex: "I heard you learned about similes today. Can you tell me about them?" "Did you do anything nice today? Did anyone do anything nice for you?"
@rachelsvec @ScottRRocco I know that when I'd ask my kids what they did in school that day, I'd usually hear "nothing" or "I don't know." Now, I share this with parents at our Back to School Night, and they all laugh because all kids do it! The conversation starters can make a big difference.
@rachelsvec @ScottRRocco Sometimes it's as simple as "Ask your child about our cloud experiment" or "Who did you sit next to at lunch today?" Others might be "Did anything feel challenging today in reading?" "I heard you were learning about quadrilaterals today. Can you tell me something about them?"
@emilylahredu Family game nights sound like fun! Reminds me that we had a Math Night once at a 99 Restaurant. Kids played math games while eating snacks w parents & teachers. It was a great way to build relationships & engage families in the learning. We should probably do that again! #satchat
@ScottRRocco We've held evening workshops to engage families. Teachers worked with parents who enjoyed learning about what we do in school. Unfortunately, attendance was never as high as we would have liked! #satchat
