Then she said:

“He told us Tuesdays stopped feeling like cancer days after you started sitting with him.”

Yeah.

That one got me.

He came back two weeks later looking tired as hell.

I walked in carrying two blueberry muffins.

He looked at the bag and smiled.

Him: “Thought you replaced me.”

Me: “Boy please. You're still the only man getting free muffins outta me.”

He laughed.

Then he pulled out the chair across from him.

Crazy how I thought I was just getting rid of an extra muffin.

Whole time, I was giving somebody a reason to look forward to Tuesday.
