I was inspired by @MrsHumanities to produce some 'Once a Biologist.....Always a Biologist' info sheets for year 13 students 🧬. I also made one for our year 11 & 12 potential medics 🩺/ dentists 🦷and one for potential vets 🐾

@LouiseSnape7 @mrsjmasters It certainly is. The examiner report said barely anyone gained a mark for it, not surprised. Hopefully, this means there will be no more questions like this in the future 🙏

@Broadscience @chatbiology We have 4 hours per week for Y12 and 5 hours per week for Y13. In Y13, it's 2 hr with each teacher and then 1 hr of Biology skills where we cover more Maths, Practical or Exam technique stuff.

....however, there will be the issue that students could be their hands on the advanced information released this year and have an idea about what is tested 🤷‍♀️

The writing of papers starts 2 yrs prior to when they are sat. In fact, the papers are likely to have been finalised a year before. These papers would be the ones used even if the Gov had not told them to release advanced material. So they will be fine for us to use.....

@dewhurst_ben @clare_ham @emmajwilki For spearman, I do, measure the length of a pea pod we measure to nearest cm) and then count the number of peas inside......kids get as excited about this as they do chocolates and chi-squared!

@dewhurst_ben @emmajwilki @clare_ham We intro it with investigating if there is a sig difference between mean length of Walkers and own brand crisps and then investigate if there is a sig difference between heights of Y7 & 12. Y7 data I collected 5 yrs ago and one of my current Y12 students remembers being measured.

@emmajwilki @KJF239 @FriendlyBiology This is exactly how I model it. Board pen, wrapped in tissue paper with a hair clip attached around the end.
It's the only way I can get my head around it!
