@BenRamanauskas I teach English and have marked TWO papers like this over the last week. The first one believes Lady Macbeth is a feared opponent in any realm in any realm of human endeavour. Then the same thing again but in a piece of creative writing about the desert!

@Positivteacha Very first time was two years ago when Year 7s mentioned his name in our first form session. I thought nothing of it but the name came up again on the same day with Year 10 class. I got a VERY misogynistic vibe from that group of boys and it took a long time to gain their respect

@englishspecial The bursary for English in the training year 21-22 was zero. Came out with £20k worth of debt. I don't regret it but the value placed on English is low and recruiting is far from easy at the moment.

@MissAHadley Some excellent replies here. I'm only into my 4th year of teaching but still find it tough. My subject confidence has grown loads though so I feel confident about what I deliver. Remember you are at the top of the game with regards to pedagogy. Let that give you confidence!

@KatePretsell I found this very useful and ties into my thoughts too. The main feedback from literature seems to be focusing on big ideas so I think across both GCSEs we need to start looking at a more emotive response. The technique spotting really holds them back.

@iamjonpalmer @adamboxer1 I remember my school being really wary of it too and jumping through many hoops to be able to do anything meaningful. It took time out of my normal lessons and was confusing for the students.

@adamboxer1 @Mr_AlmondED I trained in 2022. I did two and the ethics forms alone were the most time consuming part. We were not allowed to tailor it to specific groups so the instructions were all very vague too.
