A reminder: students with SEND not only benefit enormously from school environments built on clear routines and expectations (with reasonable accommodations), but they *disproportionately* benefit from them more than others.
This is because they:
1. Benefit from the environment around them being calm and predictable, which supports them with their stress, their sense of safety, their dignity, noise levels, etc.
2. Benefit personally by having a clear idea of what choices to make, and what they should and should not do.
School environments that are noisy, chaotic, unpredictable, and unstructured are literally the worst environment for any child, particularly children facing greater challenges, cognitively, socially, personally or behaviourally.
A strong school culture is taught not caught.
@LHS_HighSchool we have our phrases which underpin our core routines. We repeat the phrases throughout the school day 😊

Memorise the school behaviour system, and then apply it with vigour. If it works then you’ve won. If it doesn’t, ask for help. If they criticise you for using it, ask, ‘So what do you want me to do?’ Demand the support you need to succeed.
I have Asthma, allergies, dyslexia, ADD, anxiety, and Depression.
But I will tell you that what you have does not define what you can become.
Why Not You!
With the manifestos for the main parties announced I have shared a General Election summary with staff and students ahead of our mock election. Fully hyperlinked for anyone that wants to look up their constituency, candidates and compare their personal political philosophy.

Exclusions should be a last resort, but they are necessary to keep schools safe and calm. Not to do so ironically makes schools *less* inclusive, because when children don’t feel safe, and schools abdicate this duty to do so, all children suffer- especially other children with SEN.
Cold-calling/ asking students questions they might not be able to answer, is one of the oldest, most common things a teacher can do. People getting upset about that are treating children like delicate China. They will not break. Once children get used to it, and the atmosphere celebrates making an attempt, it becomes entirely normal. Stop impeding their growth as human beings.
@lightopiafest we have tickets for this evening but have been in traffic for two hours due to fatal crash in Bolton. Can we change dates? Can we come late?! Help!
A hugely useful guide by @CSACentre for all schools and colleges on responding to incidents of harmful sexual behaviour. It includes immediate actions and a safety plan template, together with broader advice on working with children and parents https://t.co/Oty6PTXZUQ
