This Friday, October 18th is #DLDAwareness Day! 💜
Over the next 2 days, I will be sharing articles, webinars, courses, and even a one-on-one interview with a very special Speech and Language Pathologist to help raise awareness of what #DLD is (and what it is not!!)
DLD Resource #2:
The Talking DLD Podcast, especially this fantastic episode on early screening and interventions with @tiffanyphogan! 💜

Ontario’s principals and vice-principals continue to struggle with new gov't initiatives, staff shortages, violence in schools & mental wellness. We need fair & adequate compensation, support, respect & efforts to address work intensification. Full stmt: https://t.co/U07hojWf3r
This has been one of the best changes I’ve made to MY teaching instruction. I TELL them the answers; I NEVER ask them to guess.
Instead of “what sound do you think this letter makes?” TELL THEM “this is the letter b and it says /b/.”
Instead of “what do you think the word mammal means?” TELL THEM “a mammal is a warm blooded animal that gives live birth to their young.”
Dont take the teaching out of teaching. TELL them. Don’t make them GUESS and then correct them and tell them they’re wrong. @IDA_Ontario #LitLearn2024
The amazing @JChambersTVDSB staff love to take on a challenge! Thank you MrMartens 4 incorporating r new @Makedo in2 learning inquiry. Could you build a device to repair the failing conduit b4 your sub explodes? I would want 2 be w the K,ECE and Primary teams bc they rocked it!
I made this 1-page handout for parents/caregivers. It includes websites, articles, documentaries and resources to support parents so they can be stronger, more knowledgeable advocates for their children’s education!

Teachers everywhere are preparing for back to school. In #ONTEd, we have a new science-based LA curriculum yet few of us were trained in the #ScienceOfReading in our teacher training programs.
Two years ago, I started a #SORBookClub and we began with a book & this article, “Structured Literacy: An Introductory Guide” so teachers could get a head start on learning about evidence-based literacy instruction.
This guide is more important than ever as teachers in @ONeducation are facing a drastically new language curriculum.
