Picked up all the STEM kits for @DDSB_STEM Week next week. Can’t wait to see what the kids from K-8 come up with to solve the challenges…stay tuned next week for updates from our 7/8s @LincolnAlexPS
A fun way to incorporate lots of language expectations and have students fully engaged…have a fictional trial…the Gr 8s were hooked during the Trial of SpongeBob SquarePants. I loved listening to all their thinking and arguments. A great way to start the week. @LincolnAlexPS
#STEM challenges with the Gr 8s and their kindie buddies. The Gr 8s had to help guide their buddies through the challenge…can you build a structure to hold 20 bears? After the challenge it was time for reading a book together @LincolnAlexPS
From the littlest to the biggest…today the Gr 8s met their kindergarten buddies. They did a get to know you activity and then got to have some play time. Both groups were asking when the next buddy time will be, it was a really heart warming morning. @LincolnAlexPS
First spirit day of the school year, comfy/cozy day, was a success…and with no internet today, we broke out the cards, puzzles and games in the afternoon, it was a fun day!
Another fun day in science: the 8s saw osmosis and diffusion in action today. They were definitely engaged and enjoying every minute of it. @LincolnAlexPS
The Gr 8s participated in the #pumpkintimebomb activity…after 422 elastics, our pumpkin exploded…so much fun! Now to see if there are any correlations between the pumpkin attributes and the elastic number #dataliteracy#3actmath@LincolnAlexPS
Thanks @teachingsmarter for organizing a #GRAthirst Blooket to review Weeks 1 and 2. My class was deeply engaged and one them placed 1st out of 130+…a fun way to start a Friday!
Thank you @MicrosoftFlip and @StephenCurry30 for today's live event! Your message about how any goal is achievable through hard work and determination was well received. I know I will definitely be adding your book to my classroom library! We loved the selfie! @LincolnAlexPS
Continuing our #thinkingclassroom journey with the Four Numbers task…students were determined to solve as many as they could…they were so engaged and in the end we discussed the importance of perseverance and never giving up when we face a problem. @LincolnAlexPS
We are building our #thinkingclassroom this year. Our first task, 100 numbers by @saravdwerf got the Gr 8s engaged and thinking about what group work looks like in our math classroom…it was a great activity! @LincolnAlexPS@PeterLiljedahl
