A once aspirational comedy writer turned teacher trying to take my small corner of the world and make it better. I like being weird. Posts reflect my own views.
You're supposed to be the @washingtonpost. You've discredited yourself as an impartial media organization, and are joining the ranks of biased new companies that have created a vacumn where people only hear their own point-of-view and aren't challenged to think more critically.
It's no longer an opinions page when you explicitly state that you will only support one point of view. Especially when that view supports your personal and business interests rather than creating a discourse that values your readers' needs for diverse viewpoints.
I shared this note with the Washington Post team this morning:
I’m writing to let you know about a change coming to our opinion pages.
We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets. We’ll cover other topics too of course, but viewpoints opposing those pillars will be left to be published by others.
There was a time when a newspaper, especially one that was a local monopoly, might have seen it as a service to bring to the reader’s doorstep every morning a broad-based opinion section that sought to cover all views. Today, the internet does that job.
I am of America and for America, and proud to be so. Our country did not get here by being typical. And a big part of America’s success has been freedom in the economic realm and everywhere else. Freedom is ethical — it minimizes coercion — and practical — it drives creativity, invention, and prosperity.
I offered David Shipley, whom I greatly admire, the opportunity to lead this new chapter. I suggested to him that if the answer wasn’t “hell yes,” then it had to be “no.” After careful consideration, David decided to step away. This is a significant shift, it won’t be easy, and it will require 100% commitment — I respect his decision. We’ll be searching for a new Opinion Editor to own this new direction.
I’m confident that free markets and personal liberties are right for America. I also believe these viewpoints are underserved in the current market of ideas and news opinion. I’m excited for us together to fill that void.

@ZelenskyyUa Please know that myself and many other United States citizens stand with the Ukraine and condemn the disrespect shown to you in the Oval Office. You have shown great strength of character in your response to what was said, and in your refusal to be intimidated.
Why are we so vain to think that any of one of us is the magical person that's right all of the time? Why is it so wrong for us to recognize there are multiple ways to solve a problem and that our way is not always the best or only way to do so? Freedom is complicated
to circumstance. What we believe and value is intrinsically tied to our individual experiences and that inner voice that guides our moral compasses. At some point, we have to learn that not being in agreement with one another doesn't make us enemies. It just makes us human.
because it doesn't look the same to each of us. For some, freedom means there's little over-sight, that regulation hinders progress. For others, freedom is security in knowing they have certain protections in place that keep them from falling through the cracks and being lost due
@ZacharyLevi I'm so out of the loop w/pop culture, but I do recognize @rhettmc and @Linkal from @Mythical in the picture. I think it's awesome how they utilized YouTube to create their own media empire. In fact, I remember you being on their show #GoodMythicalMorning in 2019 to promote Shazam
James Earl Jones, the prolific film, TV and theater actor whose resonant, unmistakable baritone was most widely known as the voice of “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader, died Monday. He was 93.

There are still practicing medical professionals who celebrate Dr. Klenner's methods and use them.

Fun Fact: I went from age 20 to age 34 thinking a narwhal was something made up for the movie "Elf"...
I've only known narwhals are real creatures for 6 years.
I needed a new job.
After realizing that I'm watching the videos in this article to know what the environment sounds and feels like so I can be better prepared to help myself and my students survive a school shooting, I'm starting to think he has good point.
