@AlyssaRasmuson I have a Symbaloo that I have created to reference for all my tech things. I always have a hard time remembering what programs I need to get students signed up for at the beginning of the year and this is a huge help!

One of my main goals now that #tch432 is almost over, is to not let all of my learning go to waste. I plan to look at each and every one of my units and work through the TIP model to make sure the tech I use supports my instruction appropriately and not the other way around.
NBPTS is something I had not heard of until this week. I really like how these standards are written for teachers by actual teachers. Maybe one day we can use these to evaluate teachers instead of the Danielson Framework? #tch432
This would be a resource for after our Revolutionary War unit and before our Government one! It is hard transitioning from the end of the war to something that is more present-day, but they need this understanding of our government before middle school. #tch432
Once the United States gained independence, the citizens needed to form a government. Check out how the Constitution came to be with our lesson, Wanted: A Just Right Government. https://t.co/TgMIZcis0i
This article from Education Week provides a wide variety of ways that actual teachers have used tech in the classroom to teach social studies! If you are looking for some new ideas I would check it out! #tch432#sschat https://t.co/hyXqCUYryl
Calling all social studies teachers!
How do you use tech to teach government to your younger students? My 5th graders struggle with understanding how ours works and I am wondering if some simulations would help them visualize it more. #tch432#sschat
Most of us come to the conclusion of written words.
This is a great reminder that in our world today literacy is so much more than words on paper. We all practice some type of literacy EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. And it is time we taught our students to recognize this as well. #tch432
What is your assumption when someone says “write” about something? Might is also include drawing? Collecting images? Audio recording notes? Charting? Mapping? Using tables? What about reading “text”? What is text? #disciplinaryliteracy
If you didn't know the #iste22 conference is happening right now! If you love Flipgrid, now Flip, you can check out their new updates that were shared right here! I am really excited for their "Simpler Web Experience" updates.
What are you waiting for, go check it out! #tch432
I am always looking for new and fun ways to use tech with my students. What is your favorite way to incorporate the #iste student standards in your classroom for social studies? #tch432#sschat
@MelissaPasterz I love this! Students learn so much from analyzing their own work and working through the process to see exactly where they went wrong and how they can fix it!
I completely agree with this! Our job as teachers is to help shape our students into becoming active citizens who participate in our democratic society. We cannot do this without teaching students to read and write across the social studies disciplines! #tch432#sshcat
There is no more time to wait for disciplinary literacy in social studies. Assigning reading of primary & secondary sources absent of reading instruction no longer suffices.
Our literal democracy depends on all of us being able to read and write in the SS disciplines. Full stop.
This blog post really honed in for me that the C3 Framework already has those disciplinary literacy skills built into it, making teaching students to be civic leaders and future historians to be so much easier! #tch432#sschat

Learning new technology can be a daunting task but in the end it is so worth it! So do your best to find the time, I promise you won't regret it! #tch432
Are you a social studies teacher and struggling with how to introduce or talk about Juneteenth? Check out these picture books that could be used at any age level to discuss this national holiday. They're already added to my Amazon cart, what about yours? #tch432#sschat
Hey, social studies teachers! I find having a digital copy of the C3 Framework to be very helpful when writing my curriculum. I thought I would share this downloadable copy with all of you in hopes that it helps you as much as it has me! #tch432#sschat

This is a great read and reminder of the benefits of using something other than a test as a summative assessment! "Performance tasks are complex, multifaceted, and open-ended, yielding a variety of possible outcomes or products." #TCH432
Exams vs. performance tasks – what's the difference?! 🤔
📝 Exams cover massive amounts of information, often causing anxiety.
💭 Performance tasks allow students to demonstrate learning in a creative and engaging way.

Simulations, and any type of interactive learning, are vital for student learning. They help keep students engaged and experience their learning.
What are some of your favorite interactive learning softwares? #tch432
Social Studies definitely doesn’t get the love it deserves, especially in elementary. Have you been told that it’s concepts can be covered in literacy alone? Do you agree with this? #TCH432#sschat
