@offgridteacher I took a group of HS kids to physics day at Six Flags, thought I would spend most of the day grading on a bench, but they dragged me to every roller coaster. Got have lunch and girl talk outside the building with 9 of the finest young ladies about life just before they graduated.
Sometimes we just pick odd drawing prompts just to have a brain break. Like "your favorite food," and we have to all figure out it's chicken alfredo or mac n cheese from drawing with a mouse.
Today they chose "the weirdest teacher you've ever had."
Apparently, that's also me.
It's a great time to explore the little things in the woods. Spent the afternoon in the Monacacy NRMA and found so many great finds:
Fiddlehead ferns
Paw paw blooms
Jack-in-the-pulpit
Mayapples and more!

These students rock. Over 1 acre. 74 new trees and shrubs. 4 weekends of invasive plant removal and planting of natives in Baker Park. They have already made such a difference, and they will continue to care for this place for years.

LYNX scholars participated in a virtual Earth Day presentation with Dr. Kevin Sellner, Dr. Janet Ady, Dr. April Sparkman, and Ms. Hannah Zinnert. Scholars learned about careers and volunteerism that promote environmental sustainability. @CadetsPrincipal#OneTeamFHS
FHS LYNX scholars participated in planting wild flowers, on Tuesday, and trees, on Thursday of this week. All week scholars have participated in the #FHSEarthDayChallenge@CadetsPrincipal#OneTeamFHS
A big thank you to our Earth Science guest speaker today, Connor Bruce. We learned about severe weather risk and community impacts; super important as we manage a changing climate.
And my heart could explode after hearing my former OMHS student teach my students at FHS.
🧡🖤💛
FHS has been very busy for Earth Week, but check out the project students have been working on all month! These students have made a big difference in our community already. 🌿
