Measuring volume using a graduated cylinder, but making it a competition. Students had 5 seconds to squeeze water into a graduated cylinder. I love each screen next to each lab table. Students can read their roles, know their expectations, and see the time left to work.
Practicing lab roles with the metric olympics! Students measured their long step in cm, calculated their average long step and compared it to Usain Boltโs average stride in his record breaking 100m sprint. Do you think anyone got close to his 240cm average?
I recently discovered that @nearpod has a draw feature. Students are able to draw using multiple colors on a background of your choice. Student identified homologous(similar) features of different species using it! #obessedwithnearpod
Students had to create their own rock layers with one intrusion or fault. Then label it oldest to youngest just like geologist do to understand earthโs history. I am impressed by my studentโs ability to learn and succeed through e-learning.
Something I love to do with zoom to keep students engaged and check their progress is to use polls. This picture is from a poll I did at the beginning of last week for students to check their asynchronous work.
