Grade 1 scientists were hard at work today brightening up the schoolโs front entrance drawing things that remind them of Spring! There were so many beautiful pictures of rainbows, flowers, insects, weather patterns, and animals that we see in springtime๐ธ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ฆโ๏ธ๐ @MsBakhtawar
We are builders!๐ง Ss worked in pairs to construct a bridge using popsicle sticks as their material and tape as their fastener. It took some rethinking and rearranging of the materials to make sure they created a strong enough bridge to hold our toy car ๐ @MsBakhtawar
@_msquijano That looks fun! Gr.1โs might also make boats to compare materials that absorb water next week, so im thinking of using ur idea of making a sail too, just to add detail ๐
We had our first Empowering Girls Club day! What does it mean to be a girl? Grades 5&6 girls are here to understand each other, lift each other up, and learn more about other women in our world who have made/are making a big difference. Today we learned about @Jamaaad ๐
Ss used their prior knowledge of flat and curved faces to explore why shapes like cube and rectangular prism make great bases while cone and sphere fit best at the top
Using 3D objects to construct the tallest tower! @MsBakhtawar spun a wheel that determined the next shape that had to be used while building their towers. What happens when we try to stack something on top of a cone?
Gr.1s had a great time learning about 3D shapes like cube, rectangular prism, cone, sphere and cylinder through these centres, and even connected to building things in science ๐
We used our math vocabulary while comparing our meter sticks to various objects around the room. โThe window is longer than the meter stick!โ โข โThe desk is so much shorter!โ @MsBakhtawar#cjmlearns
Itโs NOT a boxโฆ itโs a.. Race car! Birthday cake! Cruise ship! Ss looked at the regular box through their own perspective and crated something unique!
What do animals do in Winter? While reading a story about animals that migrate, Ss were able to pick out a couple of the seven sacred animals! We then researched which of the other seven sacred animals migrate. @MsBakhtawar
