It's National Brrrrrd Day. ❄️
Let’s take a moment to share some gratitude for our feathered friends – they weather a lot. Birds bring beauty to our world and watching them is a great way to connect with nature any time of year! What birds are you hoping to spot in 2024?
As it's Friday, I'm asking all my followers to please retweet this photo to help my little bird account to beat the algorithm and be seen!🙏
To make it worth sharing, here's a Chaffinch showing off the beautiful patterns on its wings.😍
Thank you so much!🐦

Each fall, Florida’s manatees start moving to warmer water sites around the state — show you’re in the know this Manatee Awareness Month by going slow & looking out below when on the water:
🛑 Follow all manatee protection zones when boating or on personal watercraft.
🛑 Wear polarized glasses and keep an eye out for manatee “footprints” – circular patterns on the water that show where manatees are moving underneath the surface.
🛑Whether on the water or admiring them from the shore, always give manatees plenty of space.
If you see an injured, sick, orphaned or dead manatee, call our Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922).
Thank you to Ranger Simmons from Moccasin Lake Park and Tara from Tampa Bay Watch for allowing our students @shorecrest to transplant plants from our nursery to their natural environment. The students had a great time even with rain and wet boots! @TampaBayWatch
Whether you spot a single Great Blue Heron or this tiny Black-and-White Warbler, birdwatching is one of the most rewarding activities in the Everglades. Fall migration season is now!

It amazes me that despite tweeting 5 or 6 new bird photos every single day, despite paying for Twitter & having a big following, I still get followers saying they don't see my posts!🤯
Can you do me a favour?❤️
If you follow me & see this tweet, can you retweet it please. 🙏🐦
If I haven't followed you back, and you're a genuine bird & nature lover like I am, please retweet & I'll follow you back. 😊
To make it more worth sharing, here are a pair of Goldfinches on teazle! 😍🐦😊
Cooper City High School recently dedicated the Purple Out volleyball game to raising epilepsy awareness in honor of Kaleigh, a teen with epilepsy. Kaleigh is also this year's Florida Teens Speak Up! representative.
A reminder to help our feathered friends,
➡️Keep 300+ feet from wading, shore and seabird…groups? flocks? *Googles quickly* A group of seabirds are called WRECKS.
➡️Do not intentionally force birds to fly or run boats or personal watercrafts close to shore.
➡️Keep pets leashed when visiting the shore.
➡️Avoid bird colonies during the nesting season.
➡️Honor signs that designate areas as closed or sensitive for wildlife and encourage others to do the same.
➡️Always dispose of trash and food in designated containers to avoid attracting predators.
We are in the peak of turtle nesting season and it’s not uncommon to find land turtles crossing roads while they search for nesting areas. You can help a land turtle by moving it across the road in the direction it’s heading (but only if it’s safe to do so!) #EveryTurtleCounts
On the way back from the carnival at the FIRST LEGO League Razorback Invitational. Couldn't resist the opportunity to snap a shot with the Razorbacks. We received a call back for our robot design. Thank you to @Shorecrest @ghaasfoundation @AchievaCU@Publix@suncoastfll

Amazing experience dissecting lionfish with my 8th graders @Shorecrest. The lionfish were captured during a lionfish derby. We were able to learn from them before they were thrown out. One lionfish had a seahorse in its stomach!
The beach cleanup today, 5.13.23, at Upham Beach was a success. Forty-four participants collected 128.3 lbs. we had helpers from all divisions; Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School. Thank you for cleaning our local coastal zone! @Shorecrest
