Sketchbook practice for Jean-Michel Basquiat inspired projects! 1st grade learned how to find shapes in dinosaur figures to help them draw from observation! Love seeing how proud they are learning to draw on their own. 🤩

Before the break, 5th was assigned a final project using all of the skills we have learned so far.
They created candy cane forms using value & color, then made a patterned background while keeping emphasis on their candy cane. They did not disappoint!#risdartmatters #risdbetheone

I’ve always used “Lunch Bunch” as an incentive for 5th grade, but recently I added these passes to my rewards for all grades… I think the little ones love eating in my classroom even more… & then bragging to their older siblings!🤣❤️ #risdbetheone #risdgreatness #risdartmatters

Khalil is one of my best art mentors that has really taken the time to build a relationship w his mentee, set goals,& incentives for him. This week Eric met his goal so he &Khalil got to have lunch with me! A reward for all of us, I love seeing him grow w the help of his mentor❤️

Sometimes(most of the time🤪) 45mins isnt enough! This ArtCrew S wanted to paint landscapes but since she is new to painting, we decided to spend lunch painting(&eating) together. Uninterrupted1-on-1 instruction was so beneficial! She’ll be painting on her own in no time❤️

5th’s Holiday Feast projects! Still need some shadows & details but I was too excited!
Ss were tasked w/ using E&Ps we have covered so far: color,texture,value, lines,shapes, patterns, &form.

Newest addition & incentive in Skyview Art! 5th &6th applied to be mentors &the selected are carefully paired w a K-4 protege. This morning they started their 1st project together &I loved listening to this pair problem solve &talk about school and football😍🎨
