Proud mom moment
Visited my daughter’s 2nd grade classroom - students sharing books, using “compliment starters,” and fully engaged during read aloud.
I teach seniors, and I can’t help but ask:
Where does that light go - and how do we bring it back? @whitgiraffes@ccisdlearns
Proud mom moment today ❤️
My daughter matched into an OB-GYN residency program.
Single mom. Five kids.
2 doctors
2 educators
1 entrepreneur mentoring artists
Different paths, same lesson: when people are supported and believed in, they rise.

@GMA I am 5 years older than you, I do not remember a time when you were not a part of my world. Happy 50th!! I recorded the show to watch tonight. 🥳🥳🥳🥳
@KevinHart4real I have purchased at least 7 copies of your “I can’t make this up” memoir for my classroom. I can’t keep them in the classroom. Want to donate some copies to a high school English teacher?
NAEP: 12th grade reading & math at historic lows. 1/3 can’t read at a basic level. As a 12th grade English teacher + Ed.D. candidate, I see this daily. We must move from checklists to equity & improvement science.

Today my seniors collaborated in groups, reading a Dr Seuss book to each other and identified theme, implicit and explicit meaning. Every learning cycle, I challenge myself to mix them up with an activity that makes them talk to each other. @ccisdlearns@ClearSpringsHS
@cthagod I use your books in my English classes. A student who hates to read - just sent me the below email on a Saturday no less! Chose to take it home to read more! Thank you!
