@skedeschi Most don't rent coz they want to cut bcoz they can't afford to buy. No housing ladder here as you pay 10%+ in fees and taxes when you buy property and then you still need a down payment. Only affordable for ppl who inherit or get gifted money (or the very rich)

@frankendodo You have people fleeing the current system because you're in your 30s and can't settle down anywhere, can't get a mortgage and face unemployment if you get pregnant. Outside of academia the limit for fixed term contracts is 2 years then you need to be given a permanent position.

@frankendodo Misleading. This isn't about a "job ban" but reducing the time of fixed term contracts. The goal is to get permanent positions earlier and not have to live precariously for a decade. These permanent positions don't need to be professor. Staff scientist positions should be created

@tagesschau Würde auch helfen Ganztagsbetreuung für Kita und Schulkinder auszubauen, dass die Fachkräfte auch arbeiten können, wenn sie Kinder haben. Aber da müsste man ja Geld in die Hand nehmen, um Erzieherinnen in der Ausbildung und danach ordentlich zu bezahlen.

@hanvanzan @Momademia Academia isn't known for being family friendly so I don't get the offense. We left for the sake of our kids. Moving around, no stability, being put in daycare very young, parents working long hours and often on weekends. What good is flexibility when ur working 60+ hrs to make it

@dietrinity1234 @fingurplaustert Placebo wirken nachweislich ziemlich gut bei Schmerzen. Teilweise wirken sie selbst dann, wenn man weiß, dass es Placebos sind. Schmerzen sind stark psychisch. Sehr faszinierend.

@KeinDoktor @ChrisKorth5 @fingurplaustert Jetzt bleiben Sie mal auf dem Teppich. Meistens wird Homöopathie angewendet, wenn man eh nichts machen kann außer knuddeln/gut zusprechen/ablenken. Nicht anders als "Zauberspray" (Wasser in schöner Flasche) gegen schlechte Träume. Und Placebo wirkt nachgewiesen gut bei Schmerzen

In 2021 I was still hopeful the pandemic could end w/ proper mitigations. Instead mitigations were scrapped. People were taught that not getting sick is somehow BAD for your immune system & that Omicron was good for you. Now millions more are disabled w/ #LongCovid. What a plan🙃

@oldenoughtosay Interestingly, I'm not deaf and my boobs are totally unimpressed by baby crying. They will let down upon stimulation by baby/pump or when it has been a few hours since the last feed. Sounds don't have any effect at all.

@EldritchMcPie @jessicabateman That is not true. Most people use a car coz it is much more convenient e.g. commute taking 20 min instead of 90.
