@GuptonTeaches I just discovered gimkit. Made an among us style review game and the kids love it. Our LMS is down right now so we are playing currently 👍🏻
@Roseepaterson @library_sheri @ZibinDarcie @denise_mansueti @JHallinPeel I'm curious about your statement "INCLUDING crazy hair day in an ALL BLACK school." What are you implying here?
"I actually enjoy science."
"Out of my whole life I feel like I'm now learning science."
"It feels like a party every day. You make it exciting."
We're making the best out of a bad situation. I love my little virtual family. 🥰
@WendellMiddle
This teacher over here is doing a happy dance with all the progress my students made this week.
*As a science T, let me remind you that adaptations take time. Progress is not made overnight. Be patient and celebrate the small steps towards success. 💙💚
Idk about other educators, but this year hasn't been a waste for us here on my teams @WendellMiddle. My PLT runs like a well-oiled machine, my team's Kid Talks are more effective than ever, and everyone here is thinking outside the box for new and better ways to reach our kids.
Good Things:
- some students actually really enjoy this new way of learning & are finding success when they struggled before due to less distraction & ability to work at their own pace
- new open-mindedness in meetings about how to be best for our students
- bathroom! Any time!
Ugh. And the CDC "quietly" removed the guidance supporting reopening schools a month ago apparently? Yet here we are with a plan to limit social distancing and put even more students back in school in just a little over a month? 🤦🏻♀️
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
2 Wake County and 2 Durham private schools now reporting COVID-19 clusters. Liberty Christian Academy in Durham, which had 183 students last school year, is reporting 20 cases among students & 6 among staff. #nced#coronavirus https://t.co/CTmhugj40a
I'm curious if the "we should be open" crowd has looked at global numbers. 🤔 If you do, you'll notice something significant when you compare our country to the ones who had a different approach...
Teacher here. This misses the point. We are not worried students will *catch* it at school, we are worried they will *spread* it at school. I wonder if, as a pediatrician, you had 30+ patients in your office with you all at once for hours at a time, you would feel differently.
I have a doctor's note saying I should be teleworking. I'm high-risk. I could easily be the VA instructor. I have another T friend with an autoimmune disease, and she was denied. Who exactly was approved??
So it is "essential" that I am on campus this week when I am still teaching virtually and all meetings are still virtual as well? 🤥🤔 Because I was denied telework when students arent in-person. Staff at my school were denied who aren't responsible for students during the day.
Cathy Moore says 84% of 1,785 Wake County school employees who are high risk or living w someone who is high risk had telework requests approved. She says small pct. of those whose accommodations were approved were rescinded b/c perform essential job functions on site. #wcpss
Literally sitting in the window of my classroom working and looked up to see a real life example of our lesson!
What are these clouds called? ☁️ @ Wendell Middle School https://t.co/Dk0Sok1tSX
I would really like some clarification as to why you are requiring us to be back in schools right now. I'm still teaching remotely, and all meetings are remote. Why the increased risk of exposure?
