@theheadbeaver Q2 I agree with the benefits of timely feedback. One standard that Oana instilled in me LY was to hand back assessments the next day - on everything. This meant grading 3-4+ nights a week. Iβd be interested to see how this model could help reduce daily grading. #IICSummerChat
@theheadbeaver Q1 I received neutral to negative feedback when doing computer station activities last year in AP Calc. I think students wanted more time efficiency. Logging in to computers & finding links took away from normally maximized time. I heard they preferred worksheets #IICSummerChat
@BeaverReaders@Catlin_Tucker@spsinsttech @theheadbeaver The biggest opportunity I see for math classes is with our Honors/Core blended courses. We could offer differentiation by posting links for remediation, acceleration, or just practice on given topics where students can choose what fits their needs best. #IICSummerChat
@BeaverReaders@Catlin_Tucker@spsinsttech @theheadbeaver A goal I have next year is to increase parent communication. A couple of fellow math teachers send out monthly or bi-weekly emails to parents with info about what is upcoming. I plan to adopt this process, and I would also post the messages on Schoology. #IICSummerChat
@BeaverReaders@Catlin_Tucker@spsinsttech @theheadbeaver @MsRobyn_BHS@gwcranston One measure of success will be how many lessons (or projects, communications, etc) I successfully rework with a digital learning framework. Beyond that practical measure, I am looking forward to learning from colleagues outside my department. #IICSummerChat
@BeaverReaders@Catlin_Tucker@spsinsttech @theheadbeaver @MsRobyn_BHS@kaireisci@MrFurmanBHS I see students taking ownership of their learning when they are given investigatory projects that allow them to discover a mathematical property/relationship. We do a number of these projects in Algebra 2, but I would like to do more.
