@LHSMrsGum @WeAreTeachers That’s actually my district’s policy. A lot of people take offense to it and see it as a participation trophy, but I’m with you.
Got to see some of my students at locker distribution, had a (socially distanced) picnic with my fave teacher pals, and saw a parliament of owls in the woods while leaving (a parent and 3 chicks!!!). A nice end to a bananas school year. @SRMS_Official
@teachkate @WeAreTeachers It can’t just be the teachers of color talking about this! Unfortunately, too many people are unwilling to listen and label them as being too “militant” or “controversial” or whatever other names uneducated white folks call people of color who discuss race.

School is NOT closed for the year. The building is. If you listen closely you can hear the hum of hard working teachers, administrators, and support staff preparing to save the day in ways and means never seen before. Yes, we are brokenhearted, but these broken hearts will lead

Check on your teacher friends.
Many of us are not OK.
We carry kids hearts in our hearts. We carry their stories. We carry disappointment about that lesson that didn’t go well. We carry guilt over how we handled a situation.
We need teachers to be encouraged, loved, and fueled.
