@learnwithmrlee@DunnEducation I loved your keynote Brendan. I was at the East Melbourne post. Got so much from your talk and I'm also SO happy the department is finally on the right track. Thank you!

So glad my daughter asked if we could go to the last day of the test. Took my Dad who hadn't been to a Boxing Day Test since Dennis Lillees' 1981 10 wicket haul! For Nyla and I, today was our first ever!
What an atmosphere. What a great memory to have.
Can anyone point me to the research about attention span in children/students up to around 13. I've heard diff things lately and I'm skeptical at best about the studies/how they came to '10min' or '2-3min x their age.'
Who are the experts on this? #education#edutwitter
@FunkyPedagogy Apple and cheese on a cracker?
Roma tomatoes
Stringy cheese
Rice cakes - the dark chocolate coated ones
Hummus and carrots
A small wrap with Vegemite and cheese or avocado (we love cheese 🤣)
A 🧵 on explicit instruction, in light of the NSW announcement.
1: I would have not only told you I was teaching explicitly in my first years of teaching, but been highly offended if you had suggested I wasn’t. Spoiler alert: I was giving one explicit instruction 1/
@AmandaMGoetz 100% you say, no phones/devices and if they have one, get them to leave it somewhere in sight. It's amazing how quick they can engage and interact AND have fun! 7 is ssoooo young for this!!! Crazy.
@jppav_teacher I know! But how's this - the same department has 'system measures' that show no improvement in student outcomes from voice and agency. 🤦🏼♀️
#teachersoftwitter Anyone know where this claim is from? I know it's in the Vic Curriculum Amplify document, but I mean, where the supposed research is that backs up the claim about improved educational outcomes?

@jdtdobson AERO just released a practical guide for LI and SC, maybe they also have some research papers on their effectiveness? I have been wondering this myself.
