While looking at NBPTS' 5 core propositions, I think that I have vastly improved on number 3 during this course. I now have a better understanding of how to effectively use technology to manage and monitor students learning.

Feedforward is a great approach to assessments! I think this will encourage students to actually read the comments on their work and it will help them to gain a better understanding of the material by making corrections as they go.

"Access doesnโt necessarily mean handing students devices. It is more about what they can create with that technology." -Patricia Brown. This quote really resonated with me. Often times, we think students have access just by having the tools.

I love the idea of incorporating the ISTE Standard 3d into my classroom. This is the idea that my students relate their work in class to the real world. A big question among my students is always when am I ever going to need math in the real world?

When reading about connecting schools and communities, I came across the idea of project based learning. I never considered creating projects that involved the community. This would be a great way to make connections for my students.

I found a great lesson on Common Sense about digital citizenship for my high schoolers! This particular lesson addresses digital etiquette from the nine essential elements of digital citizenship.

@weis_mrs @dr_s_bertrand I am so happy you can get back into wedding photography this summer. I applaud you for taking on a second job during the summer! I hope you have some time to relax as well!
@MccoyPatrycja @dr_s_bertrand @edutopia This was an awesome article! I think as a high school teacher I sometimes forget that my students still need lessons in empathy, inclusion, and diversity. Thanks for sharing! #TCHEdBirds
@AleshaAngsten @dr_s_bertrand I love the idea of having your students represented year round. I also am trying to find a way in my math class to better represent all of my students throughout the year. #TCHEdBirds
@dr_s_bertrand A3: My goal for this upcoming school year is to instill in my students that everyone is capable of being good at mathematics. I also want to introduce my students to a more diverse group of mathematicians and their contributions to the field.

@dr_s_bertrand A2: I found a blog that gives six ways for mathematics teachers to support diversity and inclusion. I found this blog very helpful as I often struggle to see how I can incorporate this into my math classroom.

Being a connected teacher means that you collaborate with others to improve your teaching. My goal is to start collaborating more with teachers outside of my subject area. I also want to include current events in my lessons.

Hi everyone! My name is Jenna Parks and I teach high school math. I don't have any human children, but I do have one dog child! I am very excited to learn about different technology platforms that I can incorporate into by classroom next year!
