With the helping hands of our wonderful primary classes, we created a beautiful display to recognize this years National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and Orange Shirt Day 2023 🧡 @jens_haven@NLESDCA#TruthAndReconciliationDay
@DanielOBrien4 @NLESDCA My laundry basket, it was collapsible, but it was too wide for the totes. I actually managed to find a few collapsible things that did fit in the totes like my mop bucket and colander #6totes
My totes arrived today, would you believe that everything I needed fit into 6 totes? I had to dig through four of them before I found my coffee maker #6totes#TeachingInRuralNL@NLESDCA
I landed in Nain on Tuesday. I’m so incredibly excited to start my teaching journey at Jens Haven Memorial. As someone who is just starting out I would love some advice. What is one thing you wish you knew when you started teaching?
#NLESDDL Last semester I had the pleasure of exploring Audacity. I used it to design my own podcast. Cannot wait to let my future students explore these resources!
@Mrs_A_Wall @TempletonAcad @gcouros@NLESDCA As a way to begin to introduce process writing I told students to write how to make a ham and cheese sandwich. Once the writings were done I used play food to make it based on what their instructions were. It was a very engaging activity #edchat
@Mrs_A_Wall @TempletonAcad @gcouros@NLESDCA I find in younger grades the students enjoy both but participate in face to face more. One day during learning commons the students were all excitedly watching a chess match between two other students and on Free Fridays they are always excited to join Minecraft and play together
@Mrs_A_Wall @TempletonAcad @gcouros@NLESDCA We have been talking about personal social-emotional problems and possible solutions. They were struggling with this concept. I opened up to them that when I’m stressed I sometimes get upset at the people around me and that I know it’s not okay and that I’m still working on it.
@ShelleyLoder2 @TempletonAcad @gcouros@NLESDCA Reflection is a good way for our students to see their growth and celebrate it. As well it can provide them with an understanding of what they may need to work on.
@ShelleyLoder2 @TempletonAcad @gcouros@NLESDCA In health class the students were told to close their eyes & think about the way they were treating others. I told them to think if they were being treated the way they were treating others would they feel good or bad. This exercise focused on a reflection of their own behaviours
@MarkDBradbury1 @TempletonAcad @gcouros@NLESDCA Recently, my students have been encouraged to write whatever they want in their journals instead of what happened over the weekend. This has allowed a lot of students to enjoy the writing process rather than focus on the required amount of sentences #edchat
@MarkDBradbury1 @TempletonAcad @gcouros@NLESDCA Recently my students have been really excited about word searches. I have added a variety of word searches into their Google classroom. I have also been looking into adding an online cheese game after a lot of students took an interest in a game that other students had #edchat
@steveperchard@NLESDCA A risk I have taken is doing readers theatre, I was nervous going into it but the students all really loved it and were so engaged in reading their lines. After that class they kept asking if we could do more readers theatre.
@steveperchard Digital networks allow teachers to share their ideas and what works for their students. I have found an engaging game online through Tik-Tok that focuses on number sense, communication, listening, and setting realistic goals #edchat
