We must pray for @pontifex. Pray as Christ prayed for St. Peter, that he may not be sifted as wheat. If you don't believe him to be legitimate, at least pray for his soul. God bless you.
@GorillaCrypto@CedarsAndSaints My man, the word Jew appears all over the New Testament.
The distinction between Christianity and Judaism exists all over the New Testament.
There was an entire sect called the Judaizers that was condemned in Scripture itself.
So yes, these words or concepts existed even then.
Clearly this poor guy is ignorant of most of the drama surrounding this.
The issue is that the SSPX is not merely preserving the TLM, but also safeguarding the whole of Catholic tradition for the sake of the faithful.
The other orders don't worry, because many are modernists.
Why does the SSPX need new bishops?
As far as I'm concerned, SSPX is a society of priests, just like the Dominicans, Franciscans, Augustinians, FSSP, and other priestly societies. Yet you don't see these groups constantly insisting that they need their own bishops in order to survive.
If the argument is that they are trying to preserve the Traditional Latin Mass, then why do they need to perpetuate their own line of bishops?
Any validly ordained Catholic priest can celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass. The Latin Mass does not belong to SSPX. It existed before SSPX and will continue to exist without SSPX.
So what exactly is the need for constantly securing new bishops?
At some point, it starts looking less like preserving the Latin Mass and more like preserving SSPX itself.
The Franciscans don't act this way. The Dominicans don't act this way. The FSSP doesn't act this way. They operate within the ordinary life of the Church.
The fact that SSPX is so determined to perpetuate its own episcopal structure raises a legitimate question: if this is really about preserving Tradition, why is there such a strong emphasis on perpetuating SSPX through its own bishops?
Just thinking out loud
@TilleriaVicente@CatholicSat It would seem that these people are attempting to be faithful to God, while the human authority applies its power unequally, targeting the faithful over the unfaithful, etc...
When the Jesuits were suppressed and hid in foreign countries to survive, were they in schism?
@TilleriaVicente@CatholicSat I agree. However, the question is if they are committing schism in the first place.
Did David stop being an Israelite for resisting Saul?
Or did the Maccabees betray Israel when they resisted the ruling Hellenized Jews?
This drama will be clarified, no doubt, later.
In these days, we ought to take inspiration from great saints like St. Joan of Arc, St. Athanasius, and St. Vincent Ferrer.
The latter in his day did not know who the real Pope was but did the Will of God with great love.
Help us, O Holy Fourth Angel of the Apocalypse.
The Vatican acts by realpolitck logic rather than religious cant.
Shock and horror!
It's funny how Roman Catholic institutional survival is claimed as some sort of virtue, when in nature animals do despicable things for self-preservation. The Roman Curia is no exception.
Please pray for Father Pascal Schreiber SSPX
as he prepares for his consecration to the episcopacy on the 1st July, The Feast of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ @sspx@SSPXEN
