We had an assault weapons ban from 1994-2004 that prohibited the manufacture or sale for civilian use of certain semi-automatic weapons and banned magazines with 10 rounds or more.
Mass shootings dropped during that decade.
We did it once and should do it again.
@GeogCynthia1 @jilevin I totally appreciate your cynicism. Press releases get written a certain way. But we are all filmmakers ourselves and genuinely feel & care for what went on and we are taking this responsibility at the YFR ranch seriously. I can assure you it’s much more than a job 💙
If you are a parent in America- the most likely cause of death for your child is gun violence. I don’t care if your left or right that should bother all of us..
You don’t want to make the phone call with no answer. I know too many who have.
We have to do something.
The shooter at my high school was 19, the shooter in Buffalo was 18, the shooter in Texas was 18. All of them were able to legally obtain an AR 15. They aren’t criminal masterminds with deep connections to the black market they are barely adults.
Raise the damn age to 21.
I love @mariashriver’s string of #GunReform posts so much. I live in #Montana now (where I’m not preaching to the converted) and I am trying so hard (at the expense of my own mental health) to ask hardcore 2nd amendies to meet half way 🤞🤞🤞
We can plead with our neighbors who might not agree with us to meet us halfway. Too many good people don’t speak up due to fear. Too many good people don’t go into politics out of a valid fear they could be killed. We as a society lose out when good people don’t speak up!
