CONFIRMED: Sarah Russell to the District of Connecticut
Professor Russell is a former federal public defender and an academic with significant legal experience.
Her deep commitment to equal justice will be an asset to the federal bench.
For nearly a century, the clinical program at Yale Law School has allowed students to learn by working on real cases — and making a real difference — on a range of issues. “Public service is built into the bones of the place,” says Dean Heather K. Gerken: https://t.co/CBnSlAEsfq @YaleLawSch #Yale

Explain why this student was held overnight without bail (Judge Claudia Baio ordered bail “at court only” a $10k bond that normally would require a $700 deposit), only to have the judge the next morning drop bail to $0. Use the Constitution in your answer.

99,000 women are locked in state prisons on any given day. 58% are mothers of minor children. Of those, 52% were living with their child at the time of their arrest. That's about 30,000 women separated from their kids today by our out-of-control criminal justice system.
Yes to this post as must-read! Talia aptly describes why clinics both have much to offer students AND are not a complete solution to the problems that plague legal education.
