I think about this often during the day as an educator. So often the level of attention some students require makes other students fade to the background, and not because we don’t care,but because we believe they’re “good” or “fine”. Quiet or compliant doesn’t = impacted!

A thought: I was a “good” student in school - passive, compliant, hard-working. If you asked me which teacher had the greatest impact on me, I’d answer none. None of them ever knew me. From my perspective, all of the “tough” kids got all of teacher’s attention. I was invisible.
