In the United States we have 2 large political parties, a conservative party and an (American style) liberal party. That can cause the misperception that the country is divided into two, massive political blocs. This could not be further from the truth. (1/?)

@ElectionMapsUK I’m curious because I’m an ocean away and have no clue. What is the appeal within the Conservative Party to support a Reform minority government? Could it happen or is there just no chance?
@adfreebrowsing The result of this is that if there is a vacancy in a district friendly to the opposition party, the governor will often wait up to a year to call a new election, leaving almost 800,000 people without representation in Congress. (2/2)
@adfreebrowsing It could be worse! In the Senate it’s easy because the constitution just gives the governor the right to appoint a replacement and it lays out strict special election rules. In the House of Reps a governor can only call a by election, not appoint (1/2)
@The_Davos_Man I have a theory on this on for you. If you are currently in DC, most of the people there grew up in suburbs, where you need to drive everywhere. If you were in NYC or LA or something, the people there are more used to not driving.
