I presented my paper on didactic persuasion in He Xiu‘s 何休 writings on the Chunqiu 春秋 at the Venice EACS yesterday. I argued that the 公羊墨守, 左氏膏肓, and 穀梁廢疾 are not reading aids for the 春秋 but instead push the reader to dismiss the 左 and 穀梁 and choose the 公羊.
