Pepkor has announced the merger of its Flash business with Shop2Shop as part of the retailer’s plan to build South Africa’s pre-eminent fintech platform.
This transaction, valued at R21.3 billion, will allow Pepkor to serve both the formal and informal economy. The merged business may be listed on the JSE in the years to come.
Flash is Pepkor’s value-added services distribution network and digital products fintech platform, specifically aimed at the country’s informal market.
In Pepkor’s latest annual results, it revealed that Flash’s network supports 176,000 traders, with a total throughput of R34.7 billion.
Shop2Shop is a merchant-focused trade enablement fintech platform that offers merchants acquiring, payments, cash management, and trade services.

Charged me R12.60 for each download.
They stopped emailing me ages ago too, so if one forgets to download their statements, it’s time to pay.
FNB has introduced a R25 monthly fee for business banking account holders who receive their statements via email.
The bank already announced the change in its annual pricing update, which was first communicated to customers at the start of June 2026.
In the notification, FNB said the fee was charged per business entity and remained the same regardless of how many statement cycles or emails are sent during a month.

I was told I was too small to play professional rugby.
I went on to play professionally for three years and earn two senior caps for the Sharks.
Then I was told you can’t make real money from day trading.
At 22 years old, I made my first $100,000 in a year.
People will always have an opinion about what you can and can’t achieve.
Don’t allow their doubts to become your limits.
Back yourself. Put in the work. Stay consistent.
Let the results speak for themselves.
