SUBSTATION FIRE FORCES HEATHROW AIRPORT TO CLOSE.
Heathrow Airport, the UK's busiest airport, will remain closed throughout Friday due to a "significant" power outage caused by a fire at an electrical substation at nearby Hayes that supplies the airport.
Authorities have warned of "substantial disruption" in the coming days and have urged passengers not to travel to the airport "under any circumstances" until it reopens.
A Heathrow spokesperson stated, "To ensure the safety of our passengers and staff, we have been forced to close the airport until 23:59 on March 21, 2025." Teams from ZESA UK, West London division, are grafting overtime to restore power through an alternative source.
I am quite shocked (no pun intended) as to why a backup feed to the airport failed to activate immediately!
Huh,this incident is likely to face intense scrutiny, and senior officials may face serious consequences.
Heads at the very top of ZESA UK are going to roll!
