@string_of_ears@ediz1975 They absolutely aren't bound by the same rules as cars! If you're a driver it's time to get acquainted with an up to date edition of the Highway Code.
@but_cyclists Can we just stop building shared paths please! Pedestrians hate sharing with cyclists cos even if we're doing 12mph (the 'safe limit' I'm told) that feels too fast to them. Cyclists dislike sharing with pedestrians because they (and their dogs/children) are too unpredictable.
@cupcake7166@IsSaddleThereIs We need to look to Japan for the answer to this. No privately owned or paid for parking space = no car. However, they do have the advantage of amazing public transport.
@Acrosby_sl6@michaelkeen82@AlanJi73069669@Yoda001 Same here. I live in a tiny seaside town. 2 train stations, bus station, 3 supermarkets, bank, post office and GP all in 15 minute walk from home. And I live right on the edge of the town! The freedom of not having to sit in the nose to tail traffic that runs through it is great.
@JohnJohnStewart@dahontr3@MetroUK See this example video where the interaction between peds and cyclists is so fluid that you barely notice the 13 people who manage to cross with no dedicated crossing while 100 cyclists go past.
@JohnJohnStewart@MetroUK Try driving on ANY road in Britain. Even on a short journey you'll see cars having 'near misses'. And I'm trying to remember the last time I drove and didn't see the results of a car collision - car in a ditch, smashed barriers and sign/lamp posts... Endless!
@MrJamesMay Worst day ever when they decide to bugger off and leave you. You'll spend a week hearing them come through the cat flap, nomming their noms and chasing a random bit of plastic across the laminate. Sympathy and love from me and my current furry arsehole freeloading tenant, Nigel.
@MartinSLewis@itvMLshow 3 years ago I got a quote for solar panels + batteries. The payback time was around 20 years. I was 61. It didn't make much sense. I am now regretting not investing in those damn panels! Payback time would probably be down to 10 years now π’
@but_cyclists I repeat....shared use paths should not be a thing. Cyclists don't want them. Pedestrians don't want them. They are a cheap box ticking exercise. Email your councillor now and ask for better π
@LewisofLondon I always wondered why when applying for a local council job the criminal convictions declaration stated clearly on it "don't include motoring offences" - as if breaking those laws didn't make you a criminal π€·. The UK legal attitude to bad driving is abhorrent. Time for a change.
@beneath_veneer@NickBuckleyMBE That'll be Councils ticking boxes. No cyclist likes shared use paths. No pedestrian does either. Email your local councillor....again, and again and again, until they get the message.
