The Embassy, in partnership with 'Next Africa' co-founders Hans Stoisser and Karin Krobath, convened a distinctive Kenya-Austria trade and investment forum at the offices of AMEX Healthcare GmbH in Vienna on Monday, 2nd October 2023.

In a key segment of the event, Amb. @mary_mugwanja engaged in an enlightening interview with Mr. Hans Stoisser, mainly discussing the question: "What makes Kenya an attractive destination for international collaboration and investment? Why Kenya?" She used the opportunity to highlight several attributes that position Kenya as an appealing investment and partnership destination, including:

✦ A forward-looking world-leaning Foreign Policy and the global leadership of H.E. President William Ruto.
✦ The expansive African market, further augmented by the growing African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
✦ Kenya's stature as the Regional Financial and Logistics Hub and most reliable gateway to East and Central Africa.
✦ A Business-Friendly Environment and prospects within the new Special Economic and Trade Zones.
✦ The highly skilled Kenyan workforce, including Nairobi's positioning as the 'Silicon Savannah.'
✦ The established presence of multinational companies in Kenya that thrive in the conducive business environment.
✦ Kenya's unwavering commitment to Sustainable Development and Conservation, and
✦ Opportunities under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Ambassador @mary_mugwanja pointed to the forthcoming visit to Kenya by the Austrian Federal Minister for Labour and the Economy, the Hon. Dr. Martin Kocher, from 23-24 October 2023, as a golden opportunity to further solidify Kenya-Austria bilateral relations.

Other speakers at the event included Edwin Kleiber, Owner and CEO of AMEX-Healthcare Vienna, Aquea Lampety, founder of AEWTASS, as well as Hans Stoisser and Karin Krobath, co-founders of 'Next Africa'.

Our discussions focused on connecting the skilled ICT workforce in Kenya with the growing demand in German-speaking Europe. We resolved to continue the dialogue in Nairobi during the forthcoming Austrian Trade Mission to Kenya later this month, as well as during the next session of "Next Africa - Learning Journey to Silicon Savannah" which will be organized by his company.

I concluded my official working visit to Vienna, Austria today with a courtesy call to Mag. Eva Landrichtinger, the Secretary General of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy.

We deliberated on the upcoming visit to Kenya by Hon. Dr. Martin Kocher, Austria's Federal Minister for Labour and Economy, from 21-23 October 2023. Additionally, we discussed the preliminary phases of a prospective cooperation framework between Kenya and Austria, set to be unveiled during Minister Kocher's visit. The proposed broad framework will seek to establish a formal and consistent mechanism to expand our bilateral development partnerships across various sectors, including infrastructure, green technologies, healthcare, skilled labour exchange, food security, and agriculture.

I wish to thank Amb. @mary_mugwanja, and the staff at the Kenya Embassy in Vienna for their diligent support during my stay in Vienna.
