Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's message to the Pakistani nation from Adiala Jail – December 17th, 2024:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has always operated within the constitution and the law, but the mafia that has imposed itself on our country continually violates the law and the constitution. The establishment of judicial commissions to investigate the events of May 9th (2023) and November 26th, and the release of undertrial prisoners are our legitimate demands.

I am postponing the (proposed) civil disobedience movement, during which I will define the framework and timeline of the movement.

There are seven reasons why it has become necessary for us to start a civil disobedience movement:

1- In 2023, under the London Plan, elections to the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assemblies were not held within 90 days, contrary to the constitution, because the aim was to eliminate PTI before holding elections.

2- More than one hundred and forty cases were filed against me before May 9th (2023). Paramilitary Rangers kidnapped me from Islamabad, which the Supreme Court later declared illegal. May 9th was a false-flag operation, the aim of which was to arrest our people. Ten thousand people were arrested and jailed on trumped-up charges. Our party workers and leaders were tortured, their homes were ransacked, their families were harassed. As soon as they obtained bail from the courts, they were rearrested in new false cases. From my abduction to the torture and arrests of party workers, everything was illegal and unconstitutional.

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court against these atrocities, but the Supreme Court did not pay any attention to these horrific violations of human rights. Qazi Faez Isa was in cahoots with the imposed government. No party has ever been subjected to such state oppression since 1971.

3- Because of all the illegal and undemocratic tactics that were employed, they were under the delusion that PTI could not win the February 8th elections. Sikandar Sultan Raja and Qazi Faez Isa worked together to take away our party symbol, which was tantamount to banning the party. Our candidates were targeted. As many as three candidates in a constituency were forced to withdraw from elections.

4- They were so sure of winning the elections through engineering that Nawaz Sharif was even prepared to deliver his victory speech. But before he could, they realized that PTI had won. Then they committed Form-47 election fraud. The testimony of the Commissioner of Rawalpindi confirmed this fraud. But even after that, the justice system remained a silent bystander, and no action was taken.

5- Although every oppressive and immoral tactic to take over the justice system was employed in the two-and-a-half years since regime change, the 26th Constitutional Amendment became the final nail to be hammered into the coffin of the independence of the judiciary. The Constitution was tampered with to pack the courts with hand-picked judges. The tactics used to pass these amendments (through parliament) were a farcical exercise. Despite that, neither the judiciary took any action nor did the media, considered the fourth pillar of the state, have the moral courage to raise its voice.

6- Despite a decision of the full court of the Supreme Court, reserved seats have not yet been allocated to PTI. This is not only contempt of court but also an insult of the public mandate and an assault on democracy.

7. On November 26th, bullets were rained down on our peaceful and unarmed political workers. Our party workers were completely peaceful and did not harm anyone. Their demand was the restoration of democracy and the constitution. There was neither a breakdown in law-and-order, nor was there violence. But, despite this, our people were martyred. 12 people were shot dead before sunset and the rest were gunned down at night in the dark after the electricity was turned off.
