When Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was prime minister, he had to visit America to meet his ailing sister. During the visit he also had a pre-arranged meeting with the US Vice President Mike Pence. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi could have termed it into an official visit but he didn’t. He flew to America on a commercial airline and not only paid for his own ticket but also paid for the ticket of the Chief Security Officer who had to travel with him.

The question is one of character and integrity.

My two sons have not been allowed to see or speak to their father Imran Khan who has been held unlawfully (acc to the UN) for 22 months of solitary confinement.

The audit report found that the NDMA spent over Rs23 million from the National Disaster Management Fund on "unauthorized" event management services in one day during the financial year 2023-24.

The spending included refreshments, souvenirs, printing, panaflex, certificates, and shields.

The report noted that this expenditure had no connection with emergency preparedness, response, mitigation, relief, or reconstruction, even though the NDMA Act requires the fund to be used strictly for these purposes.

In its defense, NDMA argued that such events played an important role in the organization’s transformation from a "reactive to a proactive body".
