Today, I conducted an inspection of the ongoing water supply restoration works, where we witnessed the successful pumping of treated water from the Challawa Water Treatment Plant to the Goron Dutse Reservoir while also assessing sections of the transmission pipeline network.

This marks another important milestone in our efforts to restore water supply across Kano State. Once fully rehabilitated, the Goron Dutse Reservoir will have the capacity to store up to 40 million litres of treated water, while the Challawa Water Treatment Plant, responsible for supplying about 51% of Greater Kano's water demand, continues to undergo comprehensive rehabilitation to restore its full operational capacity.

As we work tirelessly to revive our water infrastructure, protecting these public assets is a shared responsibility. We must collectively safeguard our pipelines, reservoirs, and other critical facilities from vandalism and misuse to ensure that these investments continue to serve the people for many years to come.

Under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, we remain committed to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable water supply to the people of Kano State.

Alhamdulillah! Today, we formally inaugurated the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement (RHYE), Kano State Chapter, alongside the Regional Coordinators for Kano Central, Kano North, and Kano South Senatorial Districts, laying the foundation for a disciplined and technology-driven grassroots structure dedicated to mobilising young people, amplifying government achievements, deepening community engagement, and translating youth energy into meaningful political participation and electoral success.

I am deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me to lead this important movement in Kano State. The inauguration was graced by our dynamic National Coordinator, Hon. Abdulaziz Abubakar Kaka (@Abunaah), the Honourable Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Kwara State, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, fellow State Coordinators from Plateau, Kaduna and Yobe States, party leaders, stakeholders, and numerous young progressives committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Under the compassionate and inclusive leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, young people in Kano have moved beyond being mere spectators in politics to becoming active participants in governance and development. We remain committed to building on this momentum and working collectively to deliver overwhelming victories in 2027 and beyond.

As we commemorate Democracy Day, I commend His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his unwavering commitment to youth inclusion in governance. By creating opportunities for young people to serve and contribute meaningfully to public life, he is strengthening not only the future of Kano State but also the future of our democracy. No matter how talented, committed, or innovative a young person may be, their potential can only be fully realized when they are given the platform to lead and serve.

This occasion also reminds us that nation-building is a gradual process. The challenges we face today are real, but they are not insurmountable. There was a time when many believed Singapore had little chance of succeeding, yet through visionary leadership, collective sacrifice, and the determination of its people, it became one of the world's most prosperous nations. That same spirit of hope, responsibility, and shared commitment must continue to guide us as we work together to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

Delighted to have officially launched our 2026 Statewide Drainage Clearance Exercise yesterday at the strategic Jakara–Kwarin Gogau drainage. Inspired by the visionary leadership of our amiable Governor, Alh. Abba K. Yusuf, this proactive intervention targets one of our most critical flood-control channels to provide lasting relief to historically vulnerable communities.

At the Ministry, we are working round the clock to ensure that our neighborhoods remain safe and resilient throughout the rainy season. While we clear major waterways to ensure a flood-free Kano—with plans already in place to deploy specialized desilting equipment to self-help groups next week—I urge all residents to take ownership of their environment by putting an end to improper waste dumping in our drainages. Together, we can build a cleaner, safer, and more climate-resilient state where every family has the opportunity to thrive.

Today, under the inspiration and visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba K. Yusuf, I carried out an empowerment program for the youth and women of Dala, where 1001 people benefitted from items including sewing machines, motorcycles, pasta machines, and grinding machines—alongside cash grants to provide beneficiaries with the essential tools and capital needed to establish sustainable businesses.

By prioritizing economic independence—with women making up 68% of today’s beneficiaries—we are creating viable pathways for our youth to thrive and abstain from social vices. This initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of this administration to grassroots development and our mission to build a productive, self-sufficient Kano where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.
